Aaand We’re Off for Palm, Beach Florida!

Legendary.  Exquisite.  Historic.  Glamorous.  Chic.  Stately.  Privileged.

All words that have been used to describe this beautiful island.  Trust me, you will feel each and every one of these words over the course of your stay here.  This memorable, magical place offers plenty of outdoor activities.  Whether you choose relaxing beach or poolside, walking the lovely Worth Avenue and inhaling the shops, taking in the arts and entertainment, boating, or simply exploring the area, you are sure to leave a piece of your heart in Palm Beach.

Where to Stay:

For me, there is only one legendary place to stay and that is The Breakers® Palm Beach.  There are really no words to describe the experience.  Please just do it if you can get a reservation.  They offer some very attractive off-season rates with complimentary benefits May 1-October 31.  Be sure to ask.  We received complimentary Full American Breakfast Daily with choice of two restaurants, Golf Green Fees(Cart Fee Applied), Unlimited Tennis Court Time, Access to Ocean Fitness Center and Unlimited Group Fitness Classes.

When you drive up to this property, it will literally take your breath away.  And then it just gets better and better.  One can spend half a day just exploring all the grand spaces.  Just try and absorb all of these fun things to see and do right on site:  Ten restaurants, Eleven shopping boutiques, The Spa, Ocean Fitness, Four Pools(one is adult only), Whirlpool Spas, Bungalows, Water Sports, Beautiful Beach, Family Entertainment Center, Outdoor Sports Court, Playground, Front Lawn, Ocean Lawn, Fitness Studio, Numerous Event and Meeting Spaces, Ocean Golf Course, Golf and Tennis Clubhouse, and additional sitting areas tucked away throughout to sit and read or people watch.

Rooms are elegant and oh so clean with lovely amenities.  I can highly recommend the Atlantic Guest Room with Oceanfront View.  The view in this 460 square foot room of loveliness is spectacular, complete with a Juliet Balcony to step out and enjoy every minute of it.

Where to Dine:

Should you be enjoying a short jaunt, you can simply stay on property and take delight in The Breakers® culinary offerings.  Flagler Steakhouse on the terrace is a fine choice for fine dining.  HMF is a glamorous experience if you are in the mood for nibbles and bites from an array of offerings, wine and champagne poured by just a glass in a 3 oz. or 6 oz. size, a bottle of wine from the extensive collection, creative cocktails, and the best spot for observing the glam guests or Palm Beach locals.  The Circle is amazing for breakfast if you enjoy a chic atmosphere and personal service.  Echo offers sushi, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese and Korean flairs.  The Beach Club is on the water and a perfect spot for lunch, as is Ocean House.  Seafood Bar is currently under construction but I have been there on a prior trip and it is a must visit if for nothing else but the views.

Should you desire an evening off site, here are a couple other restaurants we have enjoyed on prior trips to PB:

Café Boulud at Brazilian Court Hotel, 301 Australian Avenue, 561-655-6060, 6 minutes from The Breakers®.  Be sure to request a courtyard table outdoors.  Service is attentive and gracious, food outstanding, and the wine offerings extensive, focusing on French and American.  Try the local swordfish or sautéed grouper.

Ta-boo, 221 Worth Avenue, 561-835-3500, 5 minutes from hotel.  Anyone who has Veuve Cliquot by the glass gets an A+ in my book…but add an interesting appetizer or dinner menu and we have to give you A++!  Fun atmosphere and lively bar.

The Leopard Lounge & Restaurant, 363 Cocoanut Row, 561-659-5800, 5 minutes from the hotel.  If you like to have fun, dance and chat with people you have never met before…this is the place for you.  We have been here several times and always leave laughing and smiling.  Leopard print is everywhere, and truly, how can you not conjure up a memory of some sort when you see it!  The bartenders are always a joy at the lounge.  Jauntique has only partied here so I cannot speak to the menu but as I babble with others at the bar, I’ve heard great things about the food.

Where to Shop and Play:

Worth Avenue, 256 Worth Avenue, 6 minutes from the hotel.

Worth Avenue is right up there in my tops shops!  I love to shop and it does not disappoint.  Plus let’s face it, everyone talks about “the Avenue” so make it a must see.  Sophisticated shopping at its best.  Chic names you know…and some you don’t!  Even if you are not a shopper, this is a gorgeous stroll amid an iconic place.

Henry Morrison Flagler Museum, 1 Whitehall Way, 5 minutes from the hotel.  Admission is $18 for ages 18 and up and includes Whitehall, the Flagler Kenan Pavilion, historic Railcar No. 91, and the Museum grounds.  The Flagler Museum even offers tours of The Breakers® where you can further learn about the history.

Island Living Tours, please check out this website.  They offer drive, walk, or bike tours for one or a group.  Private and by appointment only.  Options include Worth Avenue, Garden Tour, Antique Row, Glamorous Homes and more.

Antique Row in West Palm Beach, South Dixie Highway, 11 minutes from The Breakers®.  Over 40 antique shops, specialty shops and art galleries.

Your Sample 3 Day Itinerary:

Day 1

Arrive and breathe in the magnificence of The Breakers®.  Have lunch and a drink at Beach Club Restaurant by the water.  Walk around and get your bearings so you can get everywhere a little faster.  Once you have checked in take a rest or read a book at one of the luxurious pools for the remainder of the day.  Shower up and tonight enjoy HMF for bites and cocktails.

Day 2

Hit Ocean Fitness for a fun class before breakfast.  I did Ballet Tone and really enjoyed it.  They have some unique offerings.

Breakfast in The Circle is wonderful and a great way to take in yet more beautiful design over coffee.  The breakfast offerings are abundant.

Shower up and take the Worth Avenue Tour with Island Living Tours (or another one of your choosing).  Then spend some time looking around and even walking the area on your own.  Take in a late lunch at Café 155(fabulous offerings and BEST CHICKEN SALAD EVER!) or Polo.

Head back to the hotel and try out the Spa.  This indoor-outdoor setting is one to be experienced.  The Holistic Facial is lovely.  Relax by a new pool for the rest of the afternoon or grab a fun coffee and pastry(you are on vacation…quit counting calories!) from News and Gourmet.  You have to sit in the courtyard in one of the white wicker chairs and people watch from this area.  Perhaps look through the shops too.

For dinner tonight if you feel like staying on site try Flagler Steakhouse or Echo.  If you feel like going off site do Café Boulud.

Day 3:

How about a walk on the beach and selfies by the breakers to begin your morning?  Follow up with breakfast on the patio at Beach Club.

Depending on your mood you might try water activities, tennis or golf…but if you are not feeling sporty perhaps Flagler Museum or Antique Row.  Have lunch at Belle and Maxwell’s Café (parmesan fries please!) if you are at Antique Row.  Lobster tacos at Nick and Johnnie’s if you get cultural at Flagler.  Should you decide to squeeze in both, this is a busy day and you will make it back in time to glam up for dinner tonight at Ta-boo with a beautiful ending for this trip with a twirl around the dance floor at The Leopard Lounge and Restaurant!

I hope you inhale the glitz and glamour of Palm Beach, soon or someday!

XO, Jauntique
